Myres of Dusk

“Stay wary.”

The three remained silent, looking over the valley before them, relatively safe in the clandestine heights of the mountain; however, as shadows swarmed over the valley below with an almost uniform pattern, each of them started to grow ever so slightly solicitous.
With every distortion, there was a slight rumble.

A slight sound that tripled each individual’s fear with every second that was to pass.

“Notice how the shadows come and go.”

The voice was indeed coming from one of the three, yet at the same time, they, too, were particularly intimidated of the very same situation; however, they were quite indeed hiding this from their peers, in the name of mentorship.
Somewhat.

The one at the center was the one speaking; the two to their left and right were indeed their students.
Somewhat.

To a certain degree.

“They stay on the ground.”

A quick nod from both of their students, who seemed to practically be scanning the ground with more attention to detail than their mentor themself; the shadows in question, indeed, remained near the ground of the valley as they quietly shifted across the land.
A process each of them was scared of.

Intimidation was a very strange thing.

Had they even felt it?
Had they even dared?

This wasn’t what any of them knew, was it?

There was a quiet rumble indeed, yet, this time, it was louder; a tremor each of them could feel within the mountain, ever so subtly, rang out.
Almost as if the land itself was calling for help.

Crying for help.

One student in particular practically winced.

“The world’s blights, they are. They’re not from here. They never will be.”

A slight flash, coming from the direction of the moon; the first student simply winced again, prompting the second to grow highly anxious.
What was even happening?

What was going on?

“They will never be from this world.”

A brief sigil was formed in the air, slightly above the ground, by the shadows.

“And the world shall flee as soon as they make their–”
“…Please- Mx. Ela-Elarian- can we leave now-?”

A pause from the mentor, who glanced at the first student, giving a mere nod.
“I mean, absolutely.”

“Th-Thank you, Mx.-?”
“No problem-?”
